Title: The Twilight Zone
Post by: A Lotta Moms on February 24, 2014, 05:23:05 pm
All right, I know I've mentioned it briefly in the past but since no Classic TV section can be complete without the Twilight Zone...

Anyone have a favorite episode or moment in particular?  I think my favorite is "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge," originally written by Ambrose Bierce.  The most impressive thing about that short story is that it's the first time in recorded modern fiction that a near death experience plot twist is used.  It could be said to be the inspiration for many later psychological horror movies like Jacob's Ladder, Vanilla Sky, etc.  That, and the almost completely non-spoken presentation of the episode was brilliant, making it seem all the more dreamlike and sedated.

Another favorite is "A Little Peace and Quiet" (from the '85 series).  Arthur actually parodied this episode in "Go to Your Room, D.W.!" when she manages to stop time in its tracks and go interact with the frozen world around her.
